This past weekend we headed out to Kensington Market, in the heart of Toronto, for Herbology’s first Town Hall and Meetup. Described as an event to “allow participants who want to discuss and strategize ongoing issues in the cannabis industry to get together and share their thoughts”, we were excited to learn more and meet up with like-minded folks.
The Herbology team put together a great agenda for their first session, which included a talk on edibles by Tiara Sillet, owner of Natural Budz, followed by James O’Hara, former President of CFAMM, with information on medical cannabis taxation. After the portion on edibles wrapped up, we were given a list of questions on the topic and encouraged to discuss the current issues consumers may face once the next wave of legalization arrives. This interactive moment was what we enjoyed most; it removed the risk of the event being too information heavy and allowed us to feel as though we were an important part of the cannabis discussion.
Overall, we were very impressed with the thought put into this event and the resources that were presented. No matter what your experience level within this industry, we think there is always room to learn from and support our peers through engaging conversation. We can’t wait to attend Herbology’s next Town Hall and see what we’ll learn next.
